Las Vegas is one of those destinations that never gets old, no matter how many times you visit. I've been to Vegas quite a few times, and each visit brings something new. While nothing quite compares to the Sky Villas at The Palms (that's another story for another time), this time, we opted to stay at The Cosmopolitan, and it turned out to be one of our most memorable—and surprisingly affordable—trips yet. Here’s how you can enjoy a luxury Las Vegas experience on a budget, even if you only have a few days.
The Cosmopolitan
On this trip, we stayed at The Cosmopolitan, known for its chic vibe and central location on the Strip. Our suite was the epitome of luxury, featuring a hot tub with an incredible view overlooking the Strip. This added touch made our stay feel ultra-luxurious without breaking the bank. Hot tip: If you have access to an employee benefits website, check for discounts—you might score a great deal, just like we did!
Escaping the Midwest Chill
Fall in Vegas offers the perfect escape from the cool weather back home in the Midwest. Despite it being one of our quickest Vegas trips to date, we made sure to spend plenty time on some much-needed relaxation. Afternoons were spent lounging by the pool which is more low key than other pools in Vegas. The poolside ambiance, coupled with the vibrant energy of Vegas, created the perfect setting for unwinding.
Exploring the Strip
No trip to Vegas is complete without a stroll down the iconic Strip. We spent an afternoon walking around, indulging in some of the best people-watching you’ll find anywhere. Of course, we definitely stepped into a few of the famous casinos along the way—whether you’re trying your luck at the slots or just soaking in the atmosphere, it’s an essential part of the Vegas experience. We also made a stop at The Bellagio to see their seasonal flower exhibit, which is always a must, and spent time exploring Le Boulevard inside Paris, where I always enjoy sitting in the cafe area watching the scene change from day to night.
Food Highlights
Vegas is a foodie’s paradise, and we made sure to enjoy some of the city’s best dining options during our short stay. We even opted to try all the restaurants right inside the Cosmo—much more relaxing than leaving the property after a long day at the pool. Here are a few standout spots:
Mon Ami Gabi: Ok, this wasn't at the Cosmo, but it's a charming French bistro located at Paris Las Vegas, perfect for brunch or a casual dinner with a view of the Bellagio fountains.
Jaleo: This one has been on my bucket list forever (or any by José Andrés) and it did not disappoint! It offers a delightful tapas experience that’s both flavorful and fun.
Scarpetta: It serves up modern Italian cuisine with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients—amazing!
Beauty & Essex: It combines a speakeasy vibe with a menu full of inventive dishes and handcrafted cocktails, making it a great spot for before-dinner drinks.
Making the Most of a Quick Trip
Even on a short trip, Las Vegas has a way of making every moment count. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, exploring the Strip, or emjoying world-class dining, there’s always something to keep you entertained. The best part? You don’t have to spend a fortune to experience the luxury that Vegas has to offer. With a bit of planning and some insider tips, you can enjoy an unforgettable, upscale vacation that’s both easy and affordable.
Las Vegas in the fall is the perfect destination for a quick, luxurious escape that doesn’t require a lot of time or money. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, there’s always something new to discover. So book that suite, pack your bags, and get ready for a Vegas getaway that’s as memorable as it is affordable. Extended Layover in Las Vegas.
